Stokes targets black-type at Morphettville for Femminile

Finishing sixth at Sandown on debut earlier in June, Femminile did enough in the circumstances for trainer Phillip Stokes to decide that she warranted a journey to Morphettville this coming Saturday and to take her place in the $120,000 Listed Oaklands Plate over 1400m.

Femminile finished 6th on debut at Sandown.

Purchased by Phillip Stokes from the 2023 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, OTI became involved in the month following after Terry Henderson inspected the attractive filly at Stokes’ Garfield property. He found her to be a strong specimen and considered her a promising filly for the future, and Femminile has underpinned that opinion since with her demeanour and work ethic. She has developed into a tough, professional filly during her first few preparations in the stable.

“She has been a very professional filly in the stable and during her training. You would think she had plenty of racing experience looking at her work at home. She has made good improvement from her first run at Sandown, and we have worked her with blinkers at home and with some older horses since, and she’s doing everything right. She’s on track for Morphettville on Saturday.”, said Stokes to owners.

Saturday’s Listed race provides an excellent opportunity for the filly to add some black type to her name early in her racing career.

We look forward to seeing our filly step out again, this time at Listed level.
