Spring Prospects Shine on Both Sides of the Globe

Emerging stayer San Huberto laid the foundation for a Melbourne Cup mission at Chantilly on Sunday night. In doing so, he recorded OTI Racing’s 9th Group win of the current racing season.

San Huberto’s victory in the G2 Victomtesse Vigier (3000m) against a high-quality field puts the first Tuesday in November well within his sights. It would also fulfil the dream of many owners to have a runner in the famous race.

OTI acquired a controlling interest in San Huberto in August 2019. As a two-time Listed winner from his first five starts, he was identified early in his career as a stayer of promise.

The Fabrice Chappet-trained 4-year-old now looks likely to press on to the G2 Prix Kergorlay at Deauville in mid-August before beginning his journey to Australia.

A day earlier on the other side of the world, Harbour Views handled his first attempt at racing beyond a mile with aplomb.

At Moonee Valley he recorded a dominant win over 2040m. The son of Le Havre demonstrated that he has the key capabilities to develop into a Group horse. Running away to score by over two lengths, he now progresses towards spring goals with confidence.

Trainer Matthew Williams would like to see Harbour Views race over the 2040m circuit again, in this October’s Cox Plate. The G2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) on September 5 shapes as an initial target, with the winner exempt from the Cox Plate ballot.

Results such as these would not be possible without the ongoing support of our partners. In what has been a testing period for many, it is fantastic to see loyalty rewarded with racetrack success.

Congratulations to all involved across what was a most exciting weekend.
