Set to fly into Cloudland

Cloudland has arrived with Kris Lees in Newcastle in the hope that he’ll take his new owners on an exciting journey.

Purchased with the help of agent Phill Cataldo, the 3yo gelding could not have been more impressive in his two trials prior to his purchase. Rattling off fast closing sectionals in both, he showed the raw ability of a very good horse. With a long stride to match his 16.2 hand height, the steeling grey gelding is imposing.

With an autumn campaign in mind, Cloudland was given a six-week spell after his last trial. On the lush New Zealand spring grass, he thrived before his arrival at Lees’ stable on January 12. With luck, Cloudland should be ready to show his talent in late March in the hope he’ll quickly reach 3yo city class and late autumn stakes races.

Cloudland is well bred and should excel at distances from 1400m and beyond. He is by Swiss Ace, sire of the Group 1 Railway Stakes winner Julius. His dam is the Listed-placed mare Commiserate. She is from the family of Group 2 winners Sarson Trail and Arinosa.

On what he has shown on the track, his pedigree and conformation, Cloudland is an exciting prospect. With his athleticism, temperament and speed, his new owners can have confidence that he will provide them with top class racing for many seasons.
