OTI is delighted to have acquired Sea King, a most talented son of Sea The Stars. A winner of five of his 18 races, he featured prominently in this year’s Ebor, coming from well back in the field to finish 6th.
Sea King’s win at Ayr and 6th in the Ebor at York.
After being trained by Sir Mark Prescott through his early career, Sea King will travel to Australia with his new trainer, Harry Eustace. Either the Group 3 Bendigo Cup or Group 3 Geelong Cup will be his first target before likely being aimed towards the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes on the final day of the Flemington Carnival. However, should he win one of the Country Cups, he could feature in the big race on the Tuesday.
During his time in quarantine, his galloping partner will be Docklands, OTI’s Cox Plate hope. Docklands, who is enjoying an exciting year at the top level in the UK, is also trained by Harry.
Sea King will remain in Australia after the Carnival and transfer to Matt Dunn’s stables at Murwillumbah. Matt is enjoying a marvellous season so far. His success with Cepheus, another son of Sea The Stars, is a key reason behind his appointment.
Having now passed Racing Victoria’s veterinary protocols, Sea King is poised to offer an immediate return to his new owners.
OTI is also delighted to have Group 1 Sydney runner-up, Athabascan, nominated for this year’s Melbourne Cup as well as Group 1 Queensland Derby winner Warmonger and the Busuttin trained Karburan.
