Sandown suitable for Red Shift

OTI’s 8YO stalwart, Red Shift, looks to have struck a very winnable race at Sandown on Wednesday. Although a veteran, the gelding has been sparingly raced in recent years having started just ten times in 1,410 days.

Trainer, Archie Alexander, is in rich vein of form. Based in the idyllic training environment at Ballarat, Alexander has had eight winners from his past 24 runners and the young Englishman shows no signs of letting up.

Red Shift resumed from a seven-month spell over 1400M at Ballarat, a trip well short of his best, but his fast-finishing fourth showed he was back in good order.

Twice a winner over 2100M, the quick step-up in distance looks ideal on Wednesday. Mark Zahra has been booked to ride and in the small field he should balance up with a couple behind him and be strong down the long Sandown straight.

Red Shift will derive huge benefit from Wednesday’s run heading toward future targets, but we’re hopeful of a very competitive run for our partners.
