The level of enthusiasm can often waver for many racing fans in the depths of winter, but the metropolitan midweek meeting at Sandown this Wednesday is an exciting one for many OTI owners.
The lightly raced Fretta, a daughter of the brilliant Frankel, is all set to return over 1500m following two preparatory trials. Jamie Kah, who rode the mare on debut at city level some 18 months ago is back on board.
Michael Kent Jnr said to owners “She could be a little vulnerable fitness wise but it’s a lovely kick off for her. We’ve got the right track, trip and jockey to see her run well, and we’re looking forward to having her back.”

Debut win at Sandown in December 2022
Whilst Lincoln Rocks’ dominant 5.5 length win on return at Sale was a surprise to many, including the market (SP of $13), he has always been held in high regard. A fine balance struck up by the Neasham stable of beach training and trackwork has this progressive stayer in the right spot to work through his grades. Although frustratingly tasked with the widest alley, a rise to 1800m shapes as very suitable.
Trainer Annabel Neasham said to owners “He’s enjoyed himself at the beach following his win but came into Pakenham for a gallop last week. It was really nice work with a stablemate. He’s right up to the mark for the 1800m and he’ll appreciate the ground.”

We will also see Edzel feature at the meeting in the 2400m Benchmark 70. Although he’s yet to truly live up to what has been seen at home, the gelding hasn’t exactly enjoyed much luck in running. On soft ground, at peak fitness with some weight relief, he will get his chance to show his wares at city level.
