Docklands returned to the races last month with a strong showing in the Listed Queen Anne Stakes Trial, finishing 2nd behind subsequent Group 1-placed entire Sardinian Warrior. It was a run that showed the 5yo has taken no ill effects from a big year of travel, showing the same enthusiasm for racing and training that has held him in such good stead.
Despite his Royal Ascot success, top-level Group 1 performances and competitiveness across multiple countries, Docklands is yet to win a stakes race, something we hope to see him achieve this Saturday at Epsom as he steps out in the Group 3 Diomed Stakes.
As is typical for Docklands, he’s come through his return outing in fine form and has enjoyed his training in Newmarket. In his latest update, trainer Harry Eustace told owners “We’ve been very happy with him, he seems in good nick. He had a nice leg stretch and blow on the grass last week and the signs are positive.”

Whilst he’s there with great winning claims, the Diomed will also serve as a final prep run for the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, a race he ran so well in last year to finish 2nd . It looks a hot edition this year but his course and distance form warrant great respect, and the form of his return run looks to be working out nicely with Sardinian Warrior finishing 2nd at Group 1 level in France behind top entire Sosie.
Fields will be released later in the week, but Saturday’s entries can be viewed here.
Docklands will again be partnered by Richard Kingscote. We hope to see things fall Docklands’ way on Saturday as he and his owners deserve a bold black-type victory.
