OTI is delighted to again sponsor the Jericho Cup Repecharge on December 3, 2023 at the Warrnambool Racing Club. There is no doubt that this year’s edition of the traditional race will be a little more exciting as we will have our own runner, 5yo gelding Guido, in the feature event.
With the Jericho Cup always the target of this preparation, Guido has been racing on-and-off since April this year with short freshen ups in between runs. Since his last proper spell he has recorded three wins, the latest at The Valley last Friday over 3800m, where he won by eight lengths.
“He’s certainly on his way to the Jericho now and we’re very excited to have him in the race. Ross O’Sullivan rode him very well on Friday night and will retain the ride on Guido for the Jericho Cup. He was patient with the horse, let him settle and obviously was very strong to the line.” said OTI’s Terry Henderson to owners this morning.
Guido came from a 2400m race straight to the 3800m on Friday night, but listening to his jockey’s post race comments indicates that he will certainly enjoy further distances in future, which is exactly what the Jericho Cup has to offer. The feature race will be run over 4600m at the Warrnambool Racing Club.
