Regal Lion out to turn his form around on Australia Day

While Regal Lion is yet to return to his winning form after scoring in the Listed Ipswich Cup last year, the 5yo could well get his chance on Australia Day this Friday, albeit at a big price.

Regal Lion will head into the race fourth up, looking to improve stepping out to the 2400m distance. He is entered for the $200,000 Listed Australia Day Cup at Warwick Farm with Joshua Parr booked to ride.

After being out dashed first up in the Five Diamonds, he went on to run in the Group 3 Summer Cup and Listed January Cup, where he’s performed below expectations. He did strike a virus earlier in the preparation, so we’re hoping now at full fitness and health, he can bounce back on Friday.

With a little under two weeks between runs, he’s had a relatively easy time of things, including a well-deserved trip to the beach (below).

We look forward to hopefully seeing his true, competitive self again on Friday. Click here to view the full field and all race details.

Best of luck to all connections involved!
