Quick Thinker triumphant in Australian Derby

There was cause for celebration across both Australia and New Zealand on Saturday after the win of Quick Thinker in the G1 Australian Derby at Randwick.

Whilst loyal connections weren’t able to be trackside, that didn’t stop them from dressing to the nines in their Derby Day best and roaring from home as their horse was sent to the front shortly after straightening for jockey Opie Bosson.

The son of So You Think’s fighting qualities were on full display over the final 200m as he engaged in a two horse battle with Tulloch Stakes runner-up Zebrowski.

The finishing order would be the same as it was at Rosehill the week prior, with Quick Thinker refusing to be denied and prevail by a half-head.

Bosson was quick to praise the genius of his trainer post-race and commend the effort of the horse. “I thought we might’ve done a bit too much in running but that Murray Baker fitness kicked in.”

Quick Thinker’s win was the ultimate team success. With trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, as well as their wider team unable to accompany the horse over to Australia due to current travel restrictions. It was left to Murray’s son, fellow trainer Bjorn, to adhere to the instructions from across the Tasman.

Whilst future plans are yet to be mapped out, Quick Thinker has the best minds behind him to determine what lays ahead.

Congratulations to all of our partners. We look forward to being able to join you for the next one!
