Quartet of chances at Bendigo

After a busy weekend that included a double in the UK and a winner at Kembla Grange, we hope we can continue the success at Bendigo on Wednesday, where four of OTI’s horses step out on the track.

First to run on the day is Miss Subtly in Race 2 for trainer Grahame Begg and jockey Ryan Houston, who will claim 3kg off the 57,5kg that she was allocated for the race.

Miss Subtly kicked off her career as a 2yo in July last year and finished her first preparation with four second placings from four starts. Some might think she had a chat to Tom Melbourne prior to commencing her career! However she came back with a win over 1100m at Bendigo for her first start of her second prep.

She has only been out of the placings once in three starts to follow. Tomorrow’s race over 1100m should suit the filly well and hopefully she can repeat her winning performance on this track from earlier this preparation.

Glens Top Cat will race under the guidance of Billy Egan from barrier 8 in a field of 11 in Race 4. The 4yo has had five starts, including a second and third placing and is looking for a first career win at Bendigo on Wednesday.

Trainer Matt Cumani commented: “He had a gallop on the hill track last Wednesday and he was super. His work was really strong and he responded well to his rider. We step him up to 2400m and I look forward to hopefully see him progress again.”

In Race 7 we will see Darci’s Debut head into the 1500m 80-64 Handicap fourth-up for rider Michael Dee and trainer Symon Wilde. The 4yo mare won at the same track three starts ago in similar conditions and tomorrows race looks to suit. Wilde originally planned to run her during the Warrnambool Carnival, however due to the heavy track conditions she was held back. She should enjoy the firmer footing Bendigo will offer.

Finishing off the day in the last will Eagles Crag for Dan O’Sullivan on behalf of Alexander Racing. He has been twarted by wet tracks in recent times, but pleased in his final piece of fast work and is ready to take his place in the race tomorrow.

“In preparation for his race at Bendigo on Wednesday he went 600m evens before dashing up his final furlong in good style. We were pleased with his work and he heads into Wednesday’s race in good order.” says Dan O’Sullivan in an update to owners.

Eagles Crag comes into the race fourth up after three starts at Sandown over 1400m. The little step down in distance and and class should see the gelding most competitive. He will be ridden by Jordan Childs from barrier 5 in a field of 14.

Best of luck to all connections for Wednesday and hopefully we can celebrate a winner or two!
