The Prinz eyeing off stakes success

Talented French galloper, Prince Hlodowig, looks very well suited in a Listed race at Maisons-Laffitte on Wednesday night (Race 2, 9.10 AEST).

Trained by champion French trainer, Mikel Delzangles, Prince Hlodowig out of Princess Cheri which makes him a half-sister to the talented Sydney galloper, Prince Cheri. Delzangles is well-known to Australian racing fans thanks to the feats of his champion galloper, Dunedin.

Prinz Hlodowig showed great promise when winning his Maiden with ease at his second start before a luckless second at Group 3 level at Chantilly. He resumed this season in the Group 3 Prix La Force over 1800M, where he got back to last before encountering traffic at a crucial stage.

Although only a field of five, it’s a top-quality line-up at Maisons-Laffitte on Wednesday. Three of the five runners, Prinz Hlodowig included, are still in French Derby calculations with the outcome of this race to determine the path forward.

It’s expected that Prinz Hlodowig will settle handier to the leaders and the small field should ensure he gets an uninterrupted run to the line. Delzangles has reported the horse has come on in condition from his first-up run and if he can race more tractably he should be right in the finish.

OTI wishes partners in this horse all the very best for Wednesday night and hopefully Prinz Hlodowig can justify pushing onto the Derby with a strong performance.
