Pemberley Chasing Group 3 Glory

The Ciaron Maher-trained, Pemberley, heads to the Tattersall’s Cup over 2200M at Doomben on Saturday (Race 5, 2:37 pm).

The Maher stable has been in great form over the Brisbane Winter Carnival. Ruthven claimed the Queensland Derby in dominant fashion and the OTI-owned, Aloisia, was a narrow second in the Group 1 JJ Atkins.

Pemberley, a New Zealand-bred son of Darci Brahma, has excelled in his 5YO season. He won the Murtoa Cup in September before earning a Caulfield Cup start with a close third in the Group 2 Herbert Power.

Pemberley is building to a win this campaign. At his first three starts this campaign, he simply got too far back before closing off well. Most recently, he was able to take a more forward position in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (also over 2200M at Doomben) when running a very strong third.

Jockey, Corey Brown has forged a strong bond with Pemberley this campaign and will again take the ride on Saturday. In the small field, Brown can use Pemberley’s tactical speed to advantage and ensure he is afforded every chance to be right in the finish.

Pemberley has continued to thrive in the Queensland sun and heads into Saturday’s contest in tremendous order. After a consistent preparation, the Tattersall’s Cup looks an ideal opportunity for Pemberley to re-join the winner’s list.
