Late night’s await connections of Under Your Spell and Tigrais this weekend, with both females chasing Group success in their respective contests.
Group 1 winning mare Under Your Spell tasted Group 2 success earlier this preparation when taking out the Hawaii Stakes at Turffontein. She has finished 4th and 6th in her two runs to follow and returns now to Group 1 level for Saturday’s event, accepting in the 1200m Group 1 Golden Horse Sprint at Scottsville. She has drawn the outside barrier in a field of 16.

Grey filly Tigrais was acquired by OTI mid-last year and made an immediate impression, recording a Group 3 win sporting her new colours for the first time. She then ventured to Group 1 level in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, where she finished sixth, beaten 3 lengths in a quality affair when struggling in the wet ground.
A filly with a preference for a firmer track, her 2023 seasonal reappearance has been delayed due to wet weather. Having been in training for a quite a while, fitness should not be an issue heading into her first-up assignment. Her trainer, Christopher Head, believes she can run a bold race in this Sunday’s Group 2 Prix de Sandringham.
