OTI’s Warrnambool Carnival | Day 3

The third day of the Warrnambool Racing Carnival is highlighted by the Grand Annual Steeplechase and the Warrnambool Cup.

OTI Racing will be represented through Future Score, who takes on another chance to win a Cup race after missing out in both the Adelaide and Sydney Cup’s earlier this year.

Thursday, May 5th

Pankhurst

Pankhurst will compete in the 1400m Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 with John Allen on board. She has come back nicely through her trials and is ready to make a bold return. Matthew Williams thinks she has a good each-way chance in what looks a competitive event.

Almsgiver

The gelding is on the quick back-up in the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 2000m with star jockey Damien Oliver booked for the ride. After his win at Horsham last Saturday, we hope he can jump well, settle in a nice position in a big field and travel through the race. He will need to bring his best on the day, but is expected to run a good race.

Andress

Andress will start in the Neville Wilson Series Final over 1700m with Declan Bates riding. The mare returned to form last start finishing 2nd at Hamilton, and Lindsey Smith feels she deserves her crack at some of the Series prizemoney on offer. We hope she can close off well and feature in the first few.

Marchons Ensemble

Marchons Ensemble is set to contest a back-up option after his last race was abandoned due to weather conditions. He will also start in the Neville Wilson Series Finals over 1700m alongside Andress, and although he’s better suited over further, his return run was very encouraging. A forward showing would not surprise.

Future Score

Future Score will be competing in one of the features of the day, the Listed Warrnambool Cup. After game efforts in the Group 2 Adelaide and Group 1 Sydney Cup’s, we hope he can bring this one home for his deserving owners.
