OTI welcomes Nathaniel colt Sound Of Cannons

OTI is pleased to announce the acquisition of high-quality Nathaniel colt Sound Of Cannons.

The colt caught the eye of OTI’s CEO Terry Henderson and Sydney trainer, John O’Shea, when he displayed glimmers of staying potential in his recent European form.

“He is definitely a high-quality horse. Out of his eight career starts, six have been at Group or Listed level,” Henderson said. “We feel that a new environment and different training approach will see him grow into himself and really enhance his abilities,” he added.

Sound Of Cannons’ career highlights include winning on debut at Newmarket, placing second in a Listed race at Haydock and finishing fourth in a Group 1 race at Saint-Cloud. However, it was his most recent start at Goodwood, where he came from well back to finish strongly in third place, that attracted OTI’s attention.

The English 3yo is beautifully bred out of Nathaniel – superstar mare and two-time Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Enable’s sire. And his quality pedigree doesn’t stop there, with the colt’s dam, Rock Choir a stakes placegetter and a full sister to champion mare Chorist. Furthermore, she has already produced a stakes placegetter from her only other foal.

OTI is looking forward to Sound of Cannons arrival at Werribee with the other European spring hopefuls. He will be aimed at quality handicaps like the Bendigo Cup and Queen Elizabeth before moving onto John O’Shea’s Randwick stables.
