OTI Weekend Preview | May 8, 2020

Exciting 4-year-old UK import Southern Rock will make his Australian debut at Caulfield on Saturday. The son of Dawn Approach is set to race in an Open Handicap (Race 6 – 2:55pm) over a mile.

From 8 career starts, Southern Rock has won 4 and been placed twice. Trainer Archie Alexander is looking forward to taking him to the races after the gelding impressed him in work. However the horse is sure to derive great benefit from the experience.

Lord Fandango has his third run for Lindsey Smith at Ascot, WA. After an encouraging return to racing in the Pinjarra Cup, the 7-year-old can be forgiven for his second up run in the WA Cup when he was found to have an infection. Smith is confident he will run well over 2100m on Saturday.

3-year-old filly Cake Walker steps out to the mile at her third career start at Donald. The daughter of All Too Hard should appreciate the step up in distance.

On Sunday at Ballarat, Gregorian Chant is currently 3rd emergency in the final race on the program. Trainer Mitch Freedman has built the filly up nicely towards her return with improvement to come out of the run as she progresses in her campaign.

All the best to our partners across the weekend!
