OTI trio head to mid-week Sandown meeting

A trio of gallopers will fly the flag for OTI on Wednesday afternoon at Sandown Lakeside.

All Too Hard mare Cake Walker lines up in a 2100m Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 (Race 3 – 4:15 pm) for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace. After her below-par performance at Terang a fortnight ago, she should relish the step up in distance, as well as the dry conditions today. The relatively moderate race looks like a perfect opportunity for her to run well and hopefully gain a mid-week city level win. Apprentice jockey Alana Kelly rides from barrier five.

Last start winner Meltdown takes her place in the 3yo Fillies Benchmark 64 over 1200m (Race 5 – 5:25 pm). Trainer Phillip Stokes reported that she is in perfect order going into the race and has taken significant improvement from her maiden win at Sale three weeks ago. Luke Nolen jumps aboard her from barrier three, and we’re expecting her to put in a competitive performance and be right in the finish.

Exciting galloper Eagles Crag contests a Benchmark 64 over 1600m (Race 6 – 6:00 pm). The son of Fastnet Rock turned heads last start at Pakenham when he broke his maiden in devastating style by 5.8l. Trainer Archie Alexander commented that he has come through this impressive win well and has been working superbly at home. We’re looking forward to seeing him race at Sandown, and with leading Victorian Premiership Jockey Jamie Kah aboard, he should be very hard to beat.

Wishing connections the best of luck!
