OTI to race precocious Shalaa filly with André Fabre

OTI will partner with master trainer André Fabre to race Ciabatta, an exciting 2yo filly by Shalaa.

Bred by Terry Henderson and his French partners at Haras Des Capucines stud, the filly has an impressive physique, quality bloodlines and has already shown promise in the early stages of her education.

She is by dual Group 1 winning sire Shalaa, who is from a superior bloodline being a son of Invincible Spirit. In his first crop, Shalaa has had 17 winners, including Group 3 winner Shaquero.

On Ciabatta’s dam’s side, Dealbata is a French and American Stakes winner and is exceptionally well-bred, by three-time Group 1 winner, Dubawi. While she is a young broodmare, one of her progeny is already a winner.

Physically, Ciabatta ticks all the right boxes, possessing a powerfully built body, deep girth and great feet.

OTI’s European Representative John Hammond commented that she has plenty of ability and is ready to race.

“The filly is athletic and has a great set of quarters on her, with plenty of push coming from behind, which is something one likes to see in a yearling. I would expect her to race as a 2yo,” he said.

OTI’s General Manager Shayne Driscoll is looking forward to racing the filly in France with one of the world’s leading trainers, André Fabre.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Fabre, having worked with him for over a decade. He really is a master and we feel that his training style and impeccable record will give the filly the best opportunity to flourish,” he commented.
