OTI seeking Magic Millions Gold this Saturday

The feature period of the Queensland Summer Racing Carnival is upon on, with the next two Saturday’s providing exceptional earning opportunities on the Gold Coast.

Though not a prominent purchaser of yearlings, this Saturday will see three OTI gallopers chasing their share of the riches.

Last start winner Wymark

A Group 2 winner as a 3yo, Wymark bounced back to winning ways at Caulfield last start after a challenging 12 months. Now in the care of Gavin Bedggood, he’s found a zest for racing again and is sure to have taken plenty of confidence from the victory.

Win at Caulfield last start.

Although he’s live hope in the 1800m The Wave (full details here), worth $500,000, it’s also a race that will set him up perfectly for The Subzero a week later over 2200m, worth $1m for the stayers. Wymark appears to be peaking at the right time and will hopefully be delivering his patient owners a nice reward over the next fortnight.

Yoshinobu’s first up record to the fore

Twice a winner first up, including in impressive fashion last preparation in Saturday grade for OTI, Yoshinobu heads into the 1300m Magic Millions Rising Stars (CG&E – full details here) event ready to make an impression.

Trial win at Rosehill in January.

Having pleased in his two lead up trials, which included a winning performance at Rosehill, Yoshinobu looks to have come back as good as ever. He’ll be conceding race fitness to his main dangers, and the draw isn’t straightforward but there’s confidence he’ll be running well.

Blinkers on for the quirky Difronzo

A quirky, somewhat frustrating Difronzo has always been thought of as a Magic Millions contender given the ability he’s shown at home, we just didn’t expect it to be in the 1400m Maiden Plate! (full details here). Having had some barrier issues early doors, he’s been brought along slowly but after three runs the blinkers go on.

Hitting the front early last start, Difronzo looked to have the race sewn up but had little idea how to go on and finish the job. This could be viewed as a bit of a shot at the stumps but for $250,000 in maiden company, that’s a worthy shot with a horse that’s shown enough ability to be winning multiple races.

We wish our connections all the very best of luck!
