OTI Racing Weekend Preview | June 5, 2020

Two horses, both building into their preparations, are set for Flemington.

Southern Rock pleased trainer Archie Alexander two weeks ago. Fighting on strongly for 5th, a wide barrier forced the horse to work hard throughout the early stages of the race.

The 4-year-old again races over 1800m (Race 7 – 3:25pm). After drawing outside barriers in his first two Australian starts, he jumps from barrier 3 on Saturday, with Alexander confident he can showcase his ability.

Romancer is a previous winner second up over 1400m at Flemington. Unsuited by conditions resuming, he has taken good improvement from the run and trainer Grahame Begg expects a forward showing as he progresses further into the winter. (Race 8 – 4:00pm)

On Sunday, Au Pair races at Swan Hill for Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young (Race 1 – 12:30pm). From a wide barrier, her trainers expect her to be finding the line strongly as she looks to break her maiden.

Connections are excited to see the debut of 3-year-old colt Eagles Crag at Newmarket on Sunday night (1:45am AEST Monday). Declared to run over 1600m in a 3yo Novice Class 5, Oisin Murphy rides from barrier 8.

Trainer Ed Walker has been taken by Eagles Crag’ relaxed and professional nature. He will take great benefit from his first race experience, in what is a highly competitive event.

Best of luck to all across the weekend!
