OTI Racing Weekend Preview | August 21, 2020

In what will be an exciting and busy weekend ahead, OTI will be represented by eleven runners in four different countries.

Australia

At Moonee Valley, in-form stayer Tigre Royale looks to continue his winning streak of four races when he steps out in a Benchmark 78 over 2500m (Race 4 – 2:45 pm). Archie Alexander feels that the 5yo is in great shape ahead of the race and Declan Bates will take the ride.

Also for the Alexander stable, Barade contests a Benchmark 78 over 1600m (Race 5 – 3:25 pm). With Declan Bates in the saddle, we expect him to run well.

Never No More races in a Benchmark 90 over 1200m (Race 7 – 4:40 pm) for trainer Simon Morrish. Thomas Stockdale takes the ride and we’re hoping the 5yo can return to his best form.

Also at Moonee Valley, Young Rascal makes his much-anticipated first start for OTI in the Quality Handicap over 2040m (Race 9 – 5:45 pm). The exciting stayer has impressed Alexander since arriving at his stable and we’re expecting him to find the finish line strongly with jockey John Allen aboard.

At Randwick, Attorney kicks off his spring preparation when he races in a Benchmark 78 over 1600m (Race 3 – 1:10 pm) for Matthew Smith. Jason Collett takes the ride.

Two runners will represent OTI in maidens at Wangaratta on Saturday, both for Archie Alexander. Miss Chang’e races over 1400m (Race 1 – 11:55 am) and Milonia steps out over 1170m (Race 3 – 1:06 pm). Neil Farley takes both rides.

Europe

At York, True Self will contest the prestigious Ebor Handicap Stakes over 2788m (Race 4 – 12:40 am Sunday AEST). Trainer Willie Mullins expects the mare to be competitive in what is planned to be her final race before she heads to Melbourne for the spring.

At Deauville, Auyantepui will contest the Group 2 Prix de la Nonette (Race 2 – 10:35 pm Saturday AEST) with Frankie Dettori taking the ride. The Night Of Thunder filly, under the care of Mario Baratti, will be competitive in the field of seven.

Also at Deauville, San Huberto will continue his journey toward the Melbourne Cup when he contests the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay over 3000m (Race 5 – 12:25 am AEST Monday).

At Naas in Ireland, Camelot mare, Camphor, will contest the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes over 2800m (Race 4 – 12:20 am Monday AEST) for Jessica Harrington. The mare has come through her last start win at Galway well and is looking to gain her first black-type victory.

Best of luck to all of our owners!
