OTI Racing | Weekend Preview | March 11, 2022

There is much to look forward to for our owners this long weekend, with Chaillot making her return at Group 3 level and two live chances set to contest the Group 2 Adelaide Cup.

Friday, March 11

Fontainebleau (FR)

Current Track Rating: Good

Lorne

Having strengthened up during her winter break, Mario Baratti expects a forward showing from this filly. As a three-year-old who has already shown staying promise, we are excited to see what she can do this preparation.

Haky

Unfortunately, a foot abscess has this old gelding’s start in doubt for Saturday’s race. Should he take his place, he gets a final chance to prove his zest for racing. He’ll roll to the front and hopefully keep on finding!

Race 2 – 1:38 pm ADST | 2412m BM78 | T: Matt Dunn | J: Ryan Moloney 61.5kg | Barrier 1 | Saddlecloth 1

Chaillot

Connections are hopeful that this talented mare can keep her undefeated fresh record intact, when she contests this competitive Group 3. Having won a ‘private’ trial in good style last Friday, she heads into her return primed to run a big race.

Scarlet Tufty

After two runs this preparation that were indicative of a horse looking for further, Scarlet Tufty steps out to 2000m for the first time in his Australian career. An improved performance is expected from the son of Siyouni, having trained on nicely from his Flemington run.

Race 7 – 4:25 pm | 2100m Stony Creek Cup | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Matthew Cartwright 54kg | Barrier 3 | Saddlecloth 4

Scarlet Tufty winning in France.

Vardani

On the back of his impressive last start victory, Vardani strikes another suitable race on Sunday. Despite being deep into his preparation, the son of Charm Spirit has continued to improve with racing and we are confident that he can again be very competitive.

Race 7 – 4:25 pm | 2100m Stony Creek Cup | T: Archie Alexander | J: Josh Richards 54kg | Barrier 6 | Saddlecloth 6

Notes

A runner-up to subsequent Group winning filly La Crique, Notes is set to make his Australian debut. The gelding has shown all the right signs during his short time with Lindsey Smith, putting together two strong trial performances. Monday’s race presents as an ideal starting point for what hopefully is a successful career for connections.
