OTI Racing Weekend Preview | July 17, 2020

We’re looking forward to an exciting weekend of winter racing with OTI runners featuring across the globe. In Australia, our partners will be represented at Flemington and Ipswich, and in Europe, at Bath and the Curragh.

At Flemington’s Season Finale Race Day, progressive 2-year-old Raffish will have his second career start over 1800m (Race 3 – 1:05pm). Trainer Archie Alexander has been pleased with his work following his debut at Ballarat three weeks ago.

Alexander believes the son of Free Eagle has taken good improvement from his first raceday experience and expects a strong performance with Declan Bates in the saddle.

Also at Headquarters, Romancer contests a 1600m Open Handicap (Race 7 – 3:40pm) for the Grahame Begg stable. Up against tough competition, the 6-year-old will look to improve on his previous start with Teo Nugent on board.

At Ipswich, Le Juge contests a 2150m Open Handicap (Race 3 – 12:58pm) with Michael Cahill taking the ride. Le Juge’s recent work has been of his usual high quality, according to trainer Chris Waller. Despite the wide barrier and top weight, he is expected to once again figure in the finish.

After finishing a brave 2nd in the Listed Lenebane Stakes last start, Camphor will step up in grade in the 2800m G2 Curragh Cup (Race 2 – 1:45am Sunday AEST). Jessica Harrington was pleased with her last start and with jockey Shane Foley aboard, the 4-year-old mare out of Camelot should put in a strong performance.

Anno Maximo runs in a 2000m 3yo Class 6 at Bath (Race 7 – 4:35am Sunday AEST) with jockey Kieran Shoemark to ride. Following a promising run last start, the 3-year-old looks ready to run well for the Michael Bell stable off a four week freshen up.

We wish all connections the best of luck for this weekend.
