OTI Racing | Weekend Preview | July 23, 2021

Lockdowns throughout the country have fortunately not curtailed racing. A most unusual decision by Racing Victoria to withhold racing next week will! Let’s hope our owners enjoy a winner or two beforehand.

Scarlet Tufty

It is most exciting to see this son of Siyouni finally make his appearance in Australia. While he is forward in condition, he will improve from the run. The stable believes he could run into a place.

Hasstobegood

Joe Pride has been delighted with the progress of this mare in recent weeks. Despite the wide barrier, she’s expected to be very competitive and will take great improvement from the outing.

Race 6 2:10PM | 1200m F&M BM78 |T: Joseph Pride | J: Regan Bayliss 59kg | Barrier 12| Saddlecloth 4

Hasstobegood ridden by Nash Rawiller wins at Flemington.

Ashim

Ashim has drawn a good barrier and again we expect to see him run well. The distance is perfect and the gelding seems to have adapted to Australian racing well. He should be hard to beat.

Race 8 3:25PM | 1500m Midway BM72 |T: Matthew Smith | J: Brenton Avdulla 59kg | Barrier 3 | Saddlecloth 1

Ashim recently at Matthew Smith’s Stables.

Gold Coast

Sound of Cannons

Unlucky last start, John O’Shea is confident that Sound of Cannons can win. From the good barrier, he should be able to hold a more forward position. A strong winning chance.

Race 5 1:35 PM | 2400m BM78 Hcp |T: John O’Shea | J: Tommy Berry 59kg | Barrier 1 | Saddlecloth 10

Sound of Cannons heading to the barriers.

Montabot

Brenton Advulla will be hoping to make it a treble for OTI with a win on Montabot. Fitter for two runs, the ex-French gelding has a good gate, the right track conditions and is now at his right distance. A forward showing is expected.

Montabot recently at Matthew Smith’s Stables.

Taaffeite

While it is hard to win the next race after a maiden victory, Matt Dunn believes Taaffeite will be very competitive, should she get a start.

Race 8 4:29PM (1st emergency) | 1800m Class 2 |T: Matthew Dunn | J: TBA 54.5kg | Barrier 8 | Saddlecloth 13

Indented Head

This filly has surprised all with the precociousness shown in her jump outs. While she will learn much with the race experience, it will not be surprising for her to finish in the money.

Race 4 12:40PM| 1200m 2yo Maiden |T: Phillip Stokes | J: Josh Richards (apprentice 2kg claim) true weight 54kg | Barrier 2 | Saddlecloth 12

We wish all of our connections the best of luck!
