OTI purchase stake in promising stayer Selino

OTI Racing has acquired a 50% interest in exciting four-year-old Selino in partnership with Qatar Racing.

The opportunity to purchase a share in the high-quality gelding came to OTI last week, and within hours the deal was sealed. Just days later Selino entered quarantine in Newmarket and began his journey to Melbourne, where he will join Chris Waller’s stable.

OTI’s General Manager Shayne Driscoll said the team were thrilled to secure a share in Selino with Qatar Racing and were looking forward to him arriving in Australia.

“He is a superior young stayer. His recent form showcases his strong abilities, and he is still improving so we have no doubt that he will thrive under the care of Chris Waller,” Driscoll commented.

Selino’s strong form in Europe highlights his significant potential. Of his ten runs to date, he has had two wins, five 2nds and two 3rd placings.

His most notable performances include winning by ten lengths as a three-year-old at Wolverhampton in October 2019.

Finishing second at Royal Ascot this year behind Fujiara Prince, who went on to win the Ebor Handicap.

As well as his most recent start in the Group 2 Doncaster Cup where he finished second behind Spanish Mission.

Selino is beautifully-bred, by Air Kiss out of Champs Elysees and on his female side, he has exceptionally strong staying bloodlines. Group 1 winner Invermark is one of three Group-winning half-brothers to his dam, Air Kiss (by Red Ransom).

OTI is looking forward to joining with Qatar Racing to race Selino in Australia.
