OTI and Cumani combine to buy exciting 3yo son of Gleneagles

Raw ability tends to stand out in young horses. It certainly has with Glens Top Cat, a highly talented 3yo colt recently acquired in the UK by OTI and Matt Cumani.

Beautifully bred, this 16.1 hands chestnut with an unusual name will arrive in Australia in March in the hope he will get to some of the season’s latter 3yo races.

Identified by Newmarket agent Billy Jackson-Stops, Glens Top Cat has had one race start over 1400m. Finishing with a withering sprint, he went down by a short head to the John Gosden trained $1.70 favourite. The third horse, Quick Change, some 3.75 lengths behind, subsequently won his next race.

In addition to his race performance, it was the abundance of natural athleticism shown by the colt that attracted him to his new owners. He looked to do his work very easily and move fluently. When matched with his physical attributes, he looks like an ideal prospect for success in Australia.

Glens Top Cat is by the Coolmore owned son of Galileo, Gleneagles, who won the 2000 Guineas before going on to become a Group 1 producing stallion. The mating with the well-credentialed mare Kittens (By Marju) should result in this colt being competitive from 1600m upwards.
