Mixing it up at Caulfield

After a successful weekend on the track we look forward to a last start winner as well as a couple talented runners at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Daiquiri, who won his last start at Mornington over 2000m, will take his place in the BM78 over the same distance. He will be joined in the race by the Clayton Douglas trained Harmysian, who also races in our colours.

Trained by the Busuttin Team, Daiquiri returned to the winners stall after mixing his form in two runs at Sandown earlier this preparation. Now back to his winning form, the gelding steps up in grade and will be ridden by Blake Shinn from barrier 6.

Daiquiri wins his last start at Mornington

“He’s come through his Mornington race super and recovered well. The 2000m looks ideal for him. Very happy with the horse.”, says Busuttin in an owner update late last week.

Harmysian, who only had one start this preparation at Flemington over a mile, will also step out in the race. He will be ridden by Thomas Stockdale, who claims 1.5kg off his original 61kg.

The 7yo had a tick-over trial at his home track at Mornington last week and has come through it well.

“I’m happy with his work and he recovered well from his jumpout. He will certainly take benefit from it leading into the race on Wednesday. It’s a very suitable race for him and he’s tuned up nicely for the 2000m second up.”, explains trainer Clayton Douglas to connections.

Later on in the day we see Belthil step out for his second assignment this preparation over 1440m. The son of Telperion finished third at Benalla first up for Andrew Bobbin and connections and has taken good improvement from the run.

“The horse is in very good order, he’s fit and well and jumping out of his skin so hopefully he can get a good run in the race and finish off strongly. Harry Coffey will partner up with the horse again.”, says trainer Andrew Bobbin.

3rd in a Heat of the Country Series Championship at Benalla, connections hold out hope that the horse could still work his way into the final of that series at Flemington on Oaks Day.

Best of luck to all connections on Wednesday and hopefully we can secure another win or two.
