Marchons Ensemble touches down in Australia

European galloper Marchons Ensemble touched down in Melbourne on Saturday and entered the final leg of his journey to Busuttin Racing.

The 3yo gelding, by top-class sire, Pour Moi will spend a fortnight in quarantine before joining Busuttin’s Cranbourne stables.

OTI’s General Manager Shayne Driscoll said the team were thrilled that Marchons Ensemble had arrived and are looking forward to him commencing his Australian career.

“He has arrived safe and sound and is all ready to enter work when he arrives at Trent and Natalie’s,” he said.

“The plan is to get him settled in before he’ll look to compete in restricted races and then step up into open class races.”

“When looking at his form, we recognised his strong preference for firmer ground and purchased him as an ideal prospect for Australian racing. He should relish it here, and we think he’s got great potential,” he added.

Lightly raced, Marchons Ensemble impressed in his ten career starts in Europe, highlighted by two wins and three placings.

In his two-year-old year, he dominantly won his second start at Bellewstown over 1500m, beating the field home by 3 ½ lengths.

In his following season, he won stylishly on the all-weather track at Dundalk, triumphing over OTI-owned Eaglemont, who has now settled in to Ciaron Maher & David Eustace’s stables.

Marchons Ensemble is by 2011 Epsom Derby winner, Pour Moi, who sired the 2017 Epsom Derby winner Wings of Eagles. On his dam’s side, Sugarformyhoney won 2 races at 1400m and 1600m and is by Dutch Art, a multiple Group 1 producer of sprinter and milers.
