Marchons Ensemble marches on to Mornington

Exciting European import Marchons Ensemble will debut for OTI and our connections this Saturday, in a Benchmark 78 over 1600m (Race 9 – 5:25 pm) at Mornington.

Trained by Cranbourne combination, Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, the lightly raced son of 2011 Group 1 Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi continued to improve under the care of leading Irish horseman, Ger Lyons. Ultimately prevailing over 2400m, prior to being acquired by OTI.

OTI’s General Manager, Shayne Driscoll looks forward to seeing what the well-bred galloper can offer on Saturday.

“The new team of owners is eager to see Marchon Ensemble commence his Australian career at Mornington. Unlike most imports he will relish the firm conditions on offer,” Driscoll said.

“We believe that he is a progressive prospect who will ultimately scale further heights in time.”

Co-trainer Trent Busuttin has been delighted by the four-year-old’s progress since arriving in Australia late last year, declaring that he could not be happier with how our talented horse has settled into his surroundings.

“He’s a very straightforward horse, sometimes these European horses can be funny in a new environment but certainly not him, he’s settled in beautifully,” Busuttin said in December.

Busuttin confirmed the gelding to be in excellent order ahead of his maiden Australian assignment, stating that a recent 2.5l trial victory has brought him on superbly for the mile contest.

He said Marchons Ensemble should handle the tight turning Mornington circuit, suggesting that he is likely to roll forward from barrier four, under Mick Dee.

“It’s hard to get a gauge on him, as these European horses usually take until they get up to 2000m before they look winning chances,” he said.

“So, we’re not going to the races and declaring that he will be winning, as BM78s on a Saturday are still extremely tough.”

Wishing Marchons Ensemble’s connections the best of luck for Saturday and his journey ahead!
