Long May It Continue

With a winning percentage of 16.47% this season to date, OTI heads to Sandown’s twilight midweek meeting with the objective to continue our good run with three each way chances.

Krementz will look to get the ball rolling in Race 2 (1400m Maiden) should she line up for Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr and jockey, Michael Dee. Finishing a brave 2nd last start following a wide run in the transit, Krementz would again need to overcome a wide draw to record her breakthrough success. The 3yo daughter of El Roca is lightly raced with just the two starts to her name and it is possible her experienced trainers will elect to save her for another day given the unfortunate barrier draw.

We may look to double our chances in Race 3 (2400m BM70) with Sous Les Nuages and Speranzoso both listed in the initial field of just 7.

Sous Les Nuages was an impressive winner of the Mortlake Cup first up from a spell for Matt Cumani, prior to being a little outclassed last start when contesting the Country Cup Series Final at Caulfield. Dropping back to Benchmark 70 grade is well in his favour and the claim for apprentice jockey Will Price gives some relief from the 62.5kg impost. From barrier 3, he should stalk the speed and look to have something to offer in the run to the line.

Speranzoso is a slow maturer starting to put it all together, recording a win and a 2nd placing at his last two starts for Clayton Douglas. Leading on both occassions, it wouldn’t surprise to see him take up the running again on Wednesday in the small field. Hard fit on the quick back up from a similar race last week and with Beau Mertens on board, he may prove hard to run down over the concluding stages.

Wednesday’s meeting will kick off an extremely busy week ahead for the team, with a further 15 or more horses expected to race between Thursday and Sunday across Australia.
