Quality race mare Lady Laguna is ready to get her spring campaign underway in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality at Randwick this Saturday, where she’s met with a 61kg impost.
Following what was a brilliant preparation through our most recent summer and autumn, connections are eager to see how the mare’s form measures up in the spring, with the $20m Everest shaping up as the dream target.
Having enjoyed a 6-week spell at the end of the autumn, Lady Laguna has enjoyed a smooth preparation that’s included a quiet trial at Randwick and an exhibition gallop at Rosehill. Working in company last Saturday with Group 2 winner Hell Hath No Fury, the mare pleased rider Tyler Schiller and co-trainer Annabel Neasham.

Giving 8kgs to some progressive mares, Lady Laguna is faced with a tough set up for her return run and has been prepared to improve significantly for the outing. The run is however expected to set her up very well for the 1200m Group 2 Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill on September 14, which shapes as an important test of her Everest credentials.
We’re excited to see Lady Laguna back at the races on Saturday and wish her connections all the very best of luck. Hopefully, her class still sees her featuring in the finish!
