Never further back than third at her last eight starts, Lady Laguna reserves her best for Queensland, and the daughter of Overshare was a most deserved winner of Saturday’s Listed Magic Millions Nudgee Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.
Given a rails-hugging ride by Tyler Schiller, the Annabel Neasham-trained mare defeated Chinny Boom (Spirit Of Boom) by length, with Comrade Rosa (Capitalist) back in third.
🏆LADY LAGUNA adds a second black-type win to her name by taking out the Listed Nudgee Stakes at Doomben today and makes it a double for the OTI colours!

With her second stakes success, Lady Laguna advances her record to four wins, four seconds, and six thirds from 20 starts with earnings of $738,000.
The victory earned a wildcard for the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies & Mares at the Gold Coast.
“I’m so excited; I just love this little mare,” Neasham said.
“She is so tough. If you go through her record, it is unbelievable,
“She has so much black-type, and she loves Queensland. This is her second stakes win, and I’m so pleased for OTI, who are big supporters.”
Bred by Spendthrift Australia, Lady Laguna is the best of two winners from three to race for the Encosta De Lago mare Catalina de Lago, a half-sister to Group II winner She Will Be Loved (Strategic) and to the dam of Group III winner Luke’s Luck (Show A Heart).
Catalina de Lago went through the 2022 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. Consigned by Newgate she was sold to Kingstar Farm for $180,000 in foal to Overshare. She slipped that foal and slipped again in 2022.
The family is well represented at the sales in 2024.
