A Kool Melbourne in Sydney this weekend

For the sixth week in succession, we head to Sydney for Group racing.  On the back of good form, we again go with confidence that we can be right in the finish with our runners.

After So Far Sokool impressively won the Bendigo Guineas by four lengths, this talented filly has earned her first opportunity at Group 3 level when contesting the 1400m JHB Carr Stakes.  Blake Shinn will take the ride and he was impressed when he sat on her for the first time earlier in the week.  From a favourable draw, Archie is expecting another big race from this filly.

Tom Melbourne will be given another chance to break his run of outs in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes over 1400m.  Finally, he has drawn a good gate, which should enable early cover, which he so desperately needs to help him settle in his races.  With competition including Trapeze Artist and Brave Smash, another placing from our perennial bridesmaid would genuinely be a great result.  A win, however, would be outstanding.

In New Zealand, Romancer will be stepping out over 1600m in the Easter Handicap.  He has been consistent this preparation and appears well placed in this Group 2 event.  A strong performance here could well earn him a trip to the Brisbane carnival in May/June.

Back in Victoria, Fastnet Tempest will be having his third start for the Lindsay Park team, at Caulfield in the 1400m Listed Anniversary Vase.  This horse was luckless three weeks ago, but with Craig Williams onboard here, a turnaround of fortunes would not surprise.

In the UK, Fairlight will be making his debut for Luca Cumani at Nottingham on Saturday night, our time. A son of Lope de Vega, he will learn a great deal from the experience – as will connections regarding the horse’s level of ability.

Best of luck to all involved!
