Jumping chance for Amade in Sandown Cup

Ten-year-old gelding Amade is well-known for his race day quirks, and his current preparation has certainly had its ups and downs.

After winning the Geelong Cup in October last year, the gelding made a habit again of missing the jump, however is always finishing strongly in his races. To go with that, Amade had a most unlucky trip around in the Adelaide Cup with both irons of Zac Spain’s breaking during the race. After another frustrating run in the G1 Sydney Cup where he missed the start by a big margin, the gelding has enjoyed a freshen up and trialled up well for his run in the Sandown Cup on Sunday.

“He jumped well in his trial here at Pakenham. We had a barrier blanket on him and the blindfold and he stood in the gates for a while until the rest were loaded, but he jumped well. His work at home has been very strong and Daniel Stackhouse was happy with him. He has done everything right.” said trainer Phillip Stokes.

Amade will carry top weight in the Sandown Cup and the 3200m journey will be most suitable. It looks a nice opportunity for the ten-year-old to be in the finish again.

We wish all connections the best of luck and hope we and Amade will be jumping (for joy) on the day!
