Interlinked continues his path towards a Derby tilt

Unbeaten 3yo gelding Interlinked could make his way back to his “home country” in March to take on the Group 1 New Zealand Derby as part of his current racing campaign.

The son of Savabeel was purchased by the Busuttin Team and OTI at the Ready To Run Sales in New Zealand in 2022 and has since shown his talent on the track that we’d hoped for.

Interlinked kicked off his career with a win on debut at Kilmore at the end of November, before scoring again at Caulfield just three weeks later against the older horses. The 3yo will now be tried over 2000m before potentially starting his preparation towards the New Zealand Derby, which will be run at Te Rapa on March 2, 2024.

Interlinked wins at Caulfield in December, 2023.

“He is going fantastic and is on track for Saturday. He galloped really strong at the end of December and we have been getting plenty of work into him now that he’s stepping up to 2000m. He’s sound and in very good order.” said trainer Trent Busuttin to connections.

Interlinked will take his place in the 2000m 3yo Benchmark 70 at Flemington with Tom Stockdale booked to ride. See the full field and all race details here.

Best of luck to all connections on the weekend!
