Harbour Views makes it 4 from 4

Exciting import Harbour Views got his revised spring campaign underway and kept his unbeaten record intact with a soft win in the final race at Caulfield on Sunday.

After a flood of big-priced winners throughout the afternoon, Harbour Views was finally able to give favourites backers something to cheers about, despite his cramped quote of $1.75, when he chased down Mr Exclusive to register his fourth win.

Trainer Matthew Williams said he was pleased to get through his first-up run as the race presented as a potentially tricky one.

“We knew there was going to be a lack of tempo but he’s still a green horse mentally so we didn’t want to go and change tactics on the horse and ride him more forward today,” Williams explained.

“Johnny (Allen) just let him stride up a little earlier so he wasn’t giving away too big a start and he loves something to chase so it was perfect that he had that horse (Mr Exclusive) to go after.”

On the line, Harbour Views had a length-and-a-quarter advantage from Mr Exclusive ($7.50), with $26 chance Snogging a further one-and-a-half lengths away in third place.

Harbour Views was to fly under the radar this spring but connections announced last week that there was potential the horse could fly to Perth for the G1 Railway Handicap and Kingston Town Classic after attempting to win the $500,000 Melbourne Cup Country Final at Flemington on Oaks Day.

The old stalwart Gailo Chop also put in an impressive effort at Caulfield in the G1 Underwood Stakes, running third to Black Heart Bart. His level of fitness is most certainly improving and he remains competitive at the ripe age of 9yo. We are looking forward to seeing him step out again in the coming weeks!
