Group 1 target next for Sevenna’s Knight

Sevenna’s Knight delivered another thrilling win when taking out the Group 2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier at Longchamp on Sunday.

The 4-year-old made it back-to-back wins, having secured an 8-length victory in his previous start in the Group 3 Prix de Barbeville, also at Longchamp. Last night’s run was on much drier ground, but he sustained a long run and was the strongest late. He will have an easier few weeks now as he’s prepped for the 2400m Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on June 30, 2024, which will be an interesting test dropping back in distance.

Trainer Andre Fabre is most pleased with Sevenna’s Knight’s progressing, and a decision is yet to be made whether he stays in France for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, or if he makes his way Down Under to take on the Melbourne Cup. Both make for exciting targets come the spring.

“It was a top effort from Sevenna’s Knight. He has become a quality stayer and has shown that he can sustain his sprint in those staying races. There was good speed in the race, and that gives us confidence to now head to the 2400m Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in June.”, said OTI’s Terry Henderson, who was in attendance at Longchamp.

Sevenna’s Knight is proving himself a top stayer in France and looks to have plenty of upside. He is a most exciting horse for OTI and his connections!
