Furioso to debut at Bendigo

Three-year-old Atlante gelding, Furioso, is set to make his debut at Bendigo on Wednesday afternoon.

The well-bred youngster will contest a 1400m Maiden (Race 3 – 2:30 pm) for Matt Cumani, with Fred Kersley taking the ride.

Since arriving at Cumani’s Ballarat stables from New Zealand in mid-August, the gelding has acclimatized to his new environment well, and his future looks promising.

Cumani has been delighted with his recent work and was pleased with his trial at Ballarat last week.

“He broke well, put himself in a good position, balanced himself up nicely around the turn and then lengthened nicely under minimal urging,” Cumani commented on the jump out.

The stable is hoping for a competitive effort in tomorrow’s race, and expect him to take improvement from the run. “With every experience he’s going to learn and improve,” Cumani added.

OTI’s CEO Terry Henderson said he was excited to see Furioso step out for connections.

“When we purchased him, we knew from his jump outs in New Zealand that he was a promising horse with considerable athletic ability. He has continued to develop since settling into Matt’s stables and has done everything right so far,” Henderson remarked.

“We’ll see how he goes tomorrow, but we’ve got an eye on the Sandown Guineas as an ambitious target for him,” he added.

OTI wishes Furioso’s connections the best of luck for his debut tomorrow!
