Fastnet Tempest books his ticket to Ascot

Fastnet Tempest headed to Chester (UK) on Saturday to tackle the 1500M MNBA Handicap. The race was a vital stepping-stone to Royal Ascot with the gelding needing a win to secure a start in the Hunt Cup.

Chester is a unique track that has hosted racing since 1539. Only a mile around, the track is almost constantly turning and a well-timed ride is essential given the very short straight.

Fastnet Tempset was ridden by Frannie Norton who is considered the best rider of the Chester track. Norton had to call on all his experience and patience as Fastnet Tempest jumped moderately and settled a clear last in the field of ten.

Heading into the home straight, the task looked forlorn for Fastnet Tempest who was still last, about twelve lengths from the leader. Norton kept his cool guiding the 4YO gelding up the inside and within a few strides he accelerated from last to first. It was a tremendous win from Fastnet Tempest who was able to quicken on a dime and put paid to his rivals swiftly.

OTI partners in the horse will now enjoy the thrill of having a runner at Royal Ascot. Trainer, William Haggas, has targeted he Royal Hunt Cup with Fastnet Tempest for some time and is set to have him peak come that race on June 21.

OTI would like to congratulate all partners on the brilliant victory by Fastnet Tempest. Long may the exciting ride continue with this horse and we look forward now to Royal Ascot.
