Docklands Travel Diary | Chapter 8

What a month it has been! It was full of anticipation and excitement, but not really what my boss and owners were looking to achieve.

After my solid effort in the Cox Plate, I went into the 2000m Champions Stakes feeling great. I really felt that I could figure in the finish, provided Via Sistina didn’t bring her Cox Plate form to the races. As we now know, Via Sistina did bring her form and was magnificent. I, unfortunately, jumped slowly and lost all chance of being in the finish. My 6th placing was possibly a couple of spots worse than what it would have been had I left the gates with the others.

I’ll have a quiet time this week, with the goal of jumping on a plane next Monday to Hong Kong. That will be exciting, and I’m looking forward to improving my barrier manners in preparation for the 1600m Group 1 Hong Kong Mile on the 8th of December where the trip may be more favourable.
