Docklands Travel Diary | Chapter 10

With only 9 days to go to the big race, I feel as though I am ticking over beautifully. Laura and Jerome (my rider) are very happy with me, as is my boss who is watching my progress from Newmarket.

I had a pleasant canter yesterday following some slightly faster work last Tuesday. On Saturday morning I’ll have some barrier practice before doing the same next Thursday when Mark Zahra will be on board. With the drop back to 1600m for the race, it’s essential that I am ready to rocket from the gates. I think the blinkers will also help.

My boss arrives over on Wednesday to put the final polish on. I think he will be happy with what he sees – and, more importantly, what happens on the following Sunday.

I’ve included some videos that show you the surrounds of this magnificent race track. It’s a slightly weird feeling training amongst the multi-story buildings, but there is also a unique charm about it.
