Docklands returns to scene of career highlight

Docklands will return to his favorite track at Ascot this Saturday to contest another significant handicap down the well-renowned ‘straight mile’ track – a course and distance at which he is undefeated and saw him register his career highlight to date over the Royal Ascot carnival in June.

He first won a Class 4 Handicap at Ascot in May before returning to win the Britannia Stakes on the Thursday of the prestigious Carnival in June. It was a most impressive win by the 3yo, storming down the outside rail in a field of 29 horses.

Since his win in the Britannia, Docklands has had just the one start, found wanting in a Group 3 at Goodwood. With excuses that day and a lengthy break between runs, the colt is in good order to return to Ascot on Saturday for trainer Harry Eustace and connections to contest the valuable Balmoral Handicap.

“We’ve given him a few quiet weeks and he’s in great order. He did a little bit of work on the grass the other week and Hayley and I are very happy with him. My gut feeling tells me he’s back to his form before his run in the Britannia, he looks terrific and has kept his summer coat, which many haven’t around here. If he is going as good as I think he is than he should be in for a strong run on Saturday.”, commented trainer Harry Eustace.

With final field released on Thursday night, 32 entries were taken for the race. See all nominations here.

We wish all involved the best of luck for Saturday and hope to celebrate yet another win at Ascot with Docklands.
