Condamine accepts for Australian race debut

Lightly-raced UK stayer, Condamine, has accepted to make his Australian racing debut at Ballarat on Thursday.  OTI and its partners will race the 4YO son of Duke Of Marmalade with the UK-based Anglo Australian Racing.

Duke Of Marmalade is a powerful Danehill sire that famously produced four classic winners in the 2015 season.  OTI has a great affiliation with him through recent Flemington winner Duke Of Ellington and, prior to that, the Moe Cup winner Count Of Limonade.

Condamine has only been to the races on four occasions but has shown a great deal of ability. He has been tractable in his races, settling both on speed and just forward of midfield. Prior to boarding the plane bound for Australia, he was most impressive over 2400M at Kempton when taking control of the race turning for home, only to be nabbed late by the ruling 4/9 favourite.

Condamine trialled recently at Avoca and worked well, finishing a close second to King Way – a horse that is no stranger to city company racing.

Still being a maiden galloper, Simon Morrish will be able to slowly work Condamine through his grades throughout the balance of 2017, leaving Matt Cumani, on his return at the commencement of the 2017/18 season, a progressive stayer to go on with.
