Can the stars align for Tom in Perth?

We have three runners this weekend, starting tonight with Serenade the Stars at Cranbourne. Peter Gelagotis was keen to back this boy up following a luckless run at Moonee Valley on Friday night. The trainer felt the horse didn’t have the opportunity to show his best and has elected to run him over the same distance of 2060m tonight. The Gelagotis boys are very confident that with the right run in transit, we’ll be seeing the two of them, Serenading the Stars.

Grey Lion gets his chance in his hometown cup on Saturday at Ballarat. Matt Cumani believes the grey bull is in the best condition he has ever been in. This is evident with each improved performance on the track. Jordan Childs takes the ride following his impressive 2nd in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes last start. We will be hoping this son of Galileo enjoys his hometown advantage and can provide Cumani with his first black-type win.

All eyes will then be on Tom in Perth. He is set for the Group 1 Railway Stakes over 1600m. With two Group 1 2nd’s under his belt this campaign, he is chasing the big victory. The horse has settled into life in Perth and has taken everything in his stride. He has drawn well with barrier 1. Damien Oliver takes the ride and may elect to ride the horse forward. Tom Melbourne heads into this race with every chance, let’s just hope Saturday is the day we’ve all been waiting for. Tom Perth?

Best of luck to all connections!
