Bosson set for date with Single Red in G1 NZ Oaks

Recent acquisition Single Red has taken her new ownership group on an exciting ride in just a matter of weeks, winning impressively at Waverley before producing a very game 2nd in the Group 2 Fillies Classic at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Coming off a 10-day turnaround and stepping out to 2100m for the first time, Single Red delivered a bold performance, only being run down late by star filly and Group 2 winner Ohope Wins. The form of the race was further franked by Tajana finishing 3rd, a dual Group 3 winner and Group 1 performer.

2nd in the 2100m G2 Fillies Classic at Te Rapa on February 7.

Saturday’s effort, combined with the filly’s strong form lines, gives us great confidence as we look ahead to the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks ($1m) over 2400 metres at Ellerslie on February 21. Adding to the confidence is the commitment of New Zealand’s premier rider, Opie Bosson.

Single Red continues our successful association with Andrew Forsman, who has delivered outstanding results for the OTI colours in feature Classic races with the likes of Vin de Dance and Quick Thinker.

Now set for a smooth two-week lead-up, Single Red’s new owners, in partnership with breeder Ben Kwok, are eagerly anticipating a rematch in the Oaks.
