Barade steps back into stakes class

The move for Barade from Victoria to join trainer Jack Bruce in sunny Queensland has already proven a successful one. The 8yo has rekindled a relationship with jockey Jim Byrne, recording two wins and two placings together in their last four starts, having previously combined to win the valuable Shoot Out Quality in 2021 on a previous ‘hit and run’ mission when trained by Archie Alexander.

Barade winning the BM90 Handicap at Eagle Farm in early August, 2022.

Barade is well-versed at contesting black-type races. On this weekend last year, he contested theGroup 2 Herbert Power Stakes and the Bendigo Cup a couple of weeks later. Before that, he had finished close up in all three of the Adelaide, Launceston and Hobart Cups. However, Saturday’s Listed Queensland Cup will be his first at the level in Queensland for Bruce.

Over 2400m at Eagle Farm on Saturday, Barade finds a field of 9 with jockey Jim Byrne again taking the ride. See the full field and all race details here.

“There looks to be good speed and I think the race maps very well for him. I was pleased with his work on Tuesday and he is a horse that is in very good order,” says trainer Jack Bruce.

Best of luck to all connections!
