Auyantepui Remains Unbeaten After Italian Oaks Victory

3-year-old filly Auyantepui kept her perfect record intact following her success in the G2 Italian Oaks at San Siro overnight.

After the race was run at only a moderate tempo, Auyantepui was forced to make a sustained run. Her class came to the fore over the final 200m, as she fended off all challenges.

OTI secured a 50% interest in the filly following her second career start, a Listed win on June 13. That performance underlined her talent, with the Oaks victory confirming her status as Italy’s best 3yo filly. The occasion was most exciting for OTI’s Australian partners and the Italian based breeder/owners, the Parri family.

A daughter of in-form sire, Night of Thunder, the option remains open for current trainer Nicolo Simondi to back her up in the G2 Italian Derby (2200m) this Sunday in Rome, however it appears unlikely.

A move to France is in the immediate plans, with Chantilly based, Italian born, trainer Mario Baratti to assume control of the filly. She will be targeted towards feature races in France.

The Oaks triumph was OTI’s 10th Group win of the season. This is a significant achievement that can be attested to the ongoing support of our partners.
