Australian autumn beckons for Comme Bella Fille

OTI Racing’s newly acquired New Zealand filly, Comme Bella Fille, has her sights set upon an exciting Australian autumn campaign.

The three-year-old filly by Complacent, out of the Danske mare Danbelle, will join John O’Shea’s Randwick stables in March and continue her three-year-old preparation with the Group 1 Queensland Oaks as her major target.

OTI’s General Manager, Shayne Driscoll, said the filly embodies everything they desire in a ready-to-race acquisition and is an exciting opportunity with stakes potential.

Our niche is sourcing proven, ready to run bloodstock, and this filly exemplifies this. She has impressive New Zealand form, an attractive pedigree and is primed to race as soon as she touches down in Australia,” Driscoll said.

“Once she arrives, we expect her to compete in feature 3yo races in Sydney and Brisbane over the autumn. All going well, she will work towards the Group 1 Queensland Oaks as her grand final.

“While she’s only had three career starts, her impressive form in her two most recent runs and her recent development indicates that she has the ability to compete at that level,” he added.

In her second career start at Te Rapa, Comme Bella Fille made ground from the back of the field to place third behind promising galloper Whimsical, who went on to win the Group 3 Eulogy Stakes her following start. In Comme Bella Fille’s next start, she impressively broke her maiden status at Matamata.

Comme Bella Fille’s sire, Complacent, was a Group 1 winner and notched Group 2 and Group 3 wins during his impressive racing career with John O’Shea for Godolphin. Knowing the family well, O’Shea said he is looking forward to training Complacent’s progeny. On the filly’s dam side, Danbelle was a multiple winner, and her grand dam’s family contains numerous stakes performers.

The renowned Mapperley Stud, where the filly was bred, boasts an extensive roll call of graduates, including multiple Group 1 winners; So You Think, Dundeel, Sangster, Nom De Jeu and Brutal.
