Attention turns to Sandown

We look forward to three potential runners at Sandown this Wednesday and have high hopes that celebrations will be in order on the day.

We start our day in Race 5 with Dyerville for trainer Matthew Williams. Originally planned to run on Saturday at The Valley, the 5yo was scratched due to the drier than anticipated track conditions. The son of Redwood delivered an acceptable performance when last start at Sandown, but again track conditions weren’t fully to his liking that occasion and Williams is hoping for a softer track this time around.

Dyerville comes into the race fifth up. He was in good form early this preparation (recording a win and a second) and certainly needs some give in the ground to show his best. He has drawn barrier 2 in a field of 11, carrying 59.5kg with Thomas Stockdale booked to ride. See the full field and all race details here.

In Race 6, The Creator and Daiquiri will both contest the BM70 Handicap over 1400m, vying against 11 others. See all race details here.

After an exhibition gallop at Sandown last Wednesday, The Creator is in good shape for his second up task over 1400m and will be ridden by Ethan Brown.

“He galloped with Amenable on Saturday, who’s obviously a good horse and they finished well together. He travelled nicely throughout and was strong over the line. He’s in good order and a very happy, healthy and sound horse.”, says co-trainer Michael Kent Jnr.

Known as ‘Creator’ in New Zealand, the 4yo had two starts before joining the Price/Kent team in Australia, both of them winning performances.

Daiquiri will return to the races this Wednesday after a short spell in the hopes to race on better ground over the upcoming few months.

After joining the Busuttin team earlier this year from the UK, the 5yo gelding has had two starts in Australia, including a first up win in Ballarat in April 2023. He since enjoyed a break to acclimatise further to his life down under and has come back in great order winning his trial at Cranbourne a week ago.

“He’s come back well, very happy with him. He’s moving freely and has good action, he feels well in himself and is bouncing around. We were happy to give him just the one trial, he’s had a good blow after and will take improvement from it. Very happy with him leading into his campaign.”, says trainer Trent Busuttin.

Daiquiri is expected to race through the classes at metropolitan meetings this preparation while The Creator could potentially be set up for a Golden Eagle if he shows to be competitive enough.

We also have two acceptances at Canterbury Park in Tip Of The Spear and Principessa, however both horses could potentially be saved for the weekend

We look forward to an exciting race day and hope to see our horses be most competitive.

Best of luck to all connections!
